Softball Roundup

Rain cut short a tense afternoon matchup as San Marin High edged out Tamalpais High 4-3. Tam briefly took a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh, but umpires rolled the result back to the end of the sixth.

Emery Ellinthorpe pitched a complete-game gem for San Marin, giving up only three hits and one earned run. She struck out nine, helping the Novato squad move to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in MCAL play.

For Tam, pitcher Ava Lee doubled in what would’ve been go-ahead runs in the seventh. She finished with five hits allowed, four earned runs, and eight strikeouts—an effort that really showed Tam’s resilience, even if the scoreboard didn’t go their way.

Later in the week, San Marin cruised past Rancho Cotate 11-1 by mercy rule. That win boosted their conference standing and kept momentum rolling through Marin.

Sammy Low smashed a homer and drove in four runs, flashing San Marin’s late-inning power. In that game, Taylor Testa and Arianna Mendoza each collected three hits.

Testa also started on the mound, striking out six while allowing just one earned run. That’s a strong outing for the Tigers in the North Bay.

Volleyball Standings and Highlights

Marin gymnasiums saw a pivotal showdown as Redwood High beat Tamalpais in four sets. That result keeps the Argonauts right in the hunt at the top of MCAL alongside San Rafael.

William Garland delivered 13 kills, while Leighton Olsen handed out 46 assists, added seven kills, and picked up seven digs. Redwood’s keeping pace with the league-leading youth movement out of San Rafael.

Meanwhile, San Rafael High swept Archie Williams in San Anselmo. That win extends their strong standing in the league.

Tam’s tough night dropped them to third place at 13-9 overall and 7-3 in MCAL play. Every set counts for Marin County’s volleyball scene—spring’s answer to basketball, maybe?

Track and Field Highlights

The track season brought a wave of personal bests and school records across the MCAL landscape. Archie Williams’s distance crew stood out, especially with Petra Betti snagging three wins and pushing the Titans to a 4×100 school record.

Over in Novato, San Marin flexed its sprint power thanks to Gianna Grasso and showed off some serious throwing skills from Stella Craig. Both athletes picked up multiple event wins as the meet played out in the drizzle.

The long-distance spotlight landed on Redwood High in Larkspur. Sydney Middleton delivered standout performances that really showed how much their distance program has grown.

Notable performances worth a closer look

Archie Williams – Petra Betti’s triple victory and the 4×100 school record made for a breakthrough meet in San Anselmo.
San Marin – Gianna Grasso and Stella Craig grabbed wins in both sprints and throws, proving their versatility in Novato.
Redwood – Sydney Middleton’s distance running lit up the foggy Marin air in Larkspur, hinting at a strong season ahead for Redwood’s harriers.
