Transforming Mason Street Spaces

Conceptual plans have officially emerged to potentially convert vacant offices and garage space into residential housing at 2310 Mason Street. The existing four-story commercial building dates back to 1968 and sits right between the vibrant North Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhoods.

My My Ly Architects is handling the design and application process for this potential redevelopment initiative. Although the recent project review meeting request is not yet a formal permit filing, it outlines detailed conceptual layouts published by the city’s planning department.

Layout Options and Building Details

The property currently features a 12-car garage alongside three distinct floors of commercial office space. Three separate conceptual layouts have been proposed, which could yield anywhere between 11 and 15 new residential units.

The 11-unit option converts the upper three floors into housing while preserving the ground-floor parking area.
The 14-unit iteration occupies all four floors with residential spaces while incorporating a brand new corner retail shop.
The 15-unit layout transforms the entire four-story footprint exclusively into residential apartments.

This French Quarter-style building is jointly owned by the United Educators of San Francisco and the National Association of Letter Carriers Golden Gate Branch 214 Building Corporation. Situated on a compact 0.1-acre site near Joe DiMaggio Park and the Embarcadero waterfront, an official construction timeline has not yet been established by city officials.
