Transforming Vacant Space Near Architectural History

The proposed site sits approximately a half-mile walking distance from the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Marin County Civic Center. This strategic location places future residents right near culturally rich areas while boosting overall community inventory.

Building Dimensions and Layout Specifications

The 36-foot-tall structure is projected to encompass roughly 21,700 total square feet of space. This footprint includes 13,960 square feet dedicated to housing alongside a 6,010 square-foot ground-level parking garage with a 12-car capacity.

Visitors looking to experience the wider region can check out other places to go throughout the county during their stay. In total, the complex will feature 12 rental apartments tailored for the local housing market.

Affordability and Creative Architectural Design

To comply with local regulations, one of these dozen apartments will be deed-restricted as affordable housing for a low-income household. This inclusion ensures that the development contributes meaningfully to community diversity and regional housing goals.

San Rafael-based SKS Architects crafted the vernacular design, which utilizes an articulated facade, stucco, Hardie-board lap siding, and vertical board-formed concrete to break up the building’s massing. Situated on a 0.4-acre lot near U.S. Highway 101, the property is also roughly a mile away from the popular Marin Farmers’ Market.
