Marin County High School Sports Roundup

All over Marin, students and coaches in spots like San Rafael, Novato, Mill Valley, Sausalito, and Corte Madera made some real noise this weekend. Here’s a closer look at the results folks from Larkspur to Tomales might be hashing out over Monday coffee.

Baseball Highlights

  • Marin Academy swept San Domenico with a 13-7 win. Desi Derrick-McGlynn smacked an inside-the-park home run in the first, finished with a triple, two RBIs, and three runs. Daniel Puente went 3-for-3 and scored twice. Cooper Edelstein added a 3-for-5 day. The Wildcats, based in San Rafael, are now 5-1 (2-0 BCL West).
  • San Rafael squeezed past Vintage 2-1. Jax Kolotkin’s sixth-inning single brought in the winner, while Colby Jackson tossed a complete game, giving up five hits and an unearned run with seven Ks.
  • Tam came back from a 6-0 hole to beat Pinole Valley 14-8. They put up eight in the fourth and five in the sixth. Sean Miller chipped in two hits and three RBIs.
  • Branson rolled over Lower Lake 14-1 in five innings. Cobe Benjamin had three hits, and four Bulls drove in two runs each.
  • Petaluma topped Archie Williams 14-2. Kingston Weinberg’s early two-run double briefly put the Peregrine Falcons ahead.
  • Tomales hammered Credo 13-3 in five innings. Landon Horick drove in four, Jorge Lopez added three RBIs, and Cole Furlong, Nathan Ballou, and Lopez each tallied three hits.
  • College of Marin finished a series sweep with a 16-6 win over Los Medanos. They scored nine in the fifth, and Dante Caiati led the way with three hits.

Swimming and Volleyball Highlights

In the pool, Tam edged out Archie Williams 95-91. Tamalpais High took the 400 free relay and showed off their depth with strong swims in several events.

Over in Novato, the Hornets handed San Rafael its first MCAL volleyball loss in a tense three-setter. Jernee Smith led the way with clutch hitting and some real fire at the net while the crowd from south San Rafael and downtown Novato kept the gym buzzing.

Lacrosse Highlights

On the lacrosse fields, Marin Academy edged San Ramon Valley 12-11. Reese Goodenough poured in nine goals, and Grace Davidson made 11 saves in goal.

That kind of performance really shows off the depth of talent tucked away under the hills of San Rafael and in the broader Marin County lacrosse network.

Meanwhile, San Marin standout Abby Bartholo took over with six goals and eight draw controls in a 17-12 win over Poly Prep. Coaches in Novato and Santa Rosa couldn’t stop talking about the program’s trajectory after that one.

From Sausalito to Petaluma and back to Mill Valley, Marin County’s student-athletes brought a weekend full of competitive spirit and community pride. Coaches from Marin Academy, Tamalpais, Novato, and other longtime Marin programs are already drawing up plans for the next round of MCAL and league fixtures.

Parents and fans kept turning out in record numbers all across the county—whether they were in the bleachers at San Rafael High School or on the turf at Tam’s home field in Mill Valley. It’s hard not to feel a little anticipation as these seasons keep unfolding across the unique patchwork of towns that make up our corner of the North Bay.
