The Stabbing Incident and Immediate Flight

Tracking the Suspect Through Surveillance

The violent encounter unfolded around 4:09 p.m. in the 1100 block of Mission Street, prompting an immediate emergency response. Before law enforcement officers could arrive at the scene, the assailant fled on foot to avoid capture.

Investigators quickly utilized nearby surveillance cameras to track the fleeing individual as he navigated toward Minna Street. The camera footage captured crucial movements that allowed officers to stay hot on his trail.

While attempting to evade authorities, the suspect tried to alter his appearance by crouching between parked vehicles to change clothes. He also tossed a suspicious black bag onto a nearby rooftop before continuing his escape on foot.

Capture and Evidence Recovery

Utilizing Drones and Field Units

Responding officers located the suspect on Minna Street and successfully took him into custody after a brief foot chase. This rapid apprehension prevented any further danger to the bustling downtown community.

To inspect the elevated hiding spot, police deployed an advanced department drone to examine the rooftop. The aerial equipment successfully located and secured the discarded black bag without risking officer safety.

Authorities opened the recovered bag to discover a bloody knife believed to be the primary weapon used in the assault. Further searches of the surrounding area also recovered the specific jacket and hat worn during the crime.
