San Marin’s NorCal V Semifinal Triumph in Santa Rosa
In Santa Rosa, the San Marin Mustangs pulled off a gritty road win. Miller Morgan put up 27 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and knocked down three 3-pointers in a 54-47 victory over Rancho Cotate.
That comeback stretch really showed what the No. 3 seed had in the tank against the No. 2 seed. Morgan’s big night fueled the Mustangs’ push in the NorCal Division V semifinals.
San Marin, based just outside Novato, started slow and fell behind early. By halftime, though, they’d flipped things around, trailing by just 17-16.
Anthony Elwell kept things steady late, finishing with eight points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and two assists. Sophomore Grant Means chipped in nine points, five boards, and three assists, keeping the offense moving.
On defense, Kellen Dunning anchored the group. Jake Beisler and Joey Engler pitched in on both ends—Engler, by the way, recently led San Marin with 17 points in a North Coast Section semifinal loss to Mission San Jose.
