San Rafael Homicide: Suspect Arrested in Fatal Stabbing Near Anderson Drive Encampment

Authorities made the arrest at about 6 p.m. Sunday, just a few blocks from the crime scene on Anderson Drive. The area sits between Lindaro Street and Irwin Street.

Police found the body of a 28-year-old woman around 6:15 p.m. Saturday. She’d been stabbed to death.

San Rafael Police said the suspect, Leslieli Violani Ilolahia, admitted to the stabbing. Investigators haven’t shared the exact statements or explained a motive yet.

The case is still under active investigation by the San Rafael Police Department. No formal motive has been made public.

Officials pointed out that the Anderson Drive encampment isn’t part of San Rafael’s sanctioned camping area on Mahone Path. That detail matters in Marin County’s ongoing debates about where people can legally camp.
