Evaluating the Cost of Josh Downs

According to reports from ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the Colts are currently demanding a third-round draft pick in exchange for their talented young receiver. General manager John Lynch must carefully weigh whether to surrender another valuable mid-round selection after already giving up a fourth-rounder.

This trade decision could significantly shape the team’s future strategy moving forward. While exploring things to do around the Bay Area, local supporters are keeping a close watch on these developing trade discussions.

The Upside for San Francisco

Now competing in his fourth professional season, Downs has demonstrated consistent annual improvement and exceptional route-running capabilities. During his first seven games of the 2026 campaign, he hauled in 26 receptions for 307 receiving yards.

Integrating him into the playbook would undoubtedly present opposing defensive coordinators with immense schematic challenges. Visitors planning a trip and booking cozy Marin hotels will have plenty of thrilling game days to watch this fall.

Alternative Wide Receiver Options

If the asking price for Downs proves too steep, alternative playmakers are expected to be available on the active market. General managers across the league always keep a robust list of fallback options ready before the final deadline.
