What to Expect

Wildlife Viewing Opportunities
You might spot a variety of marine mammals and seabirds that call the Bay Area home. Depending on the time of year, you could see:
Educational Component
Crew members share informal insights about the connection between urban life and natural ecosystems. They’ll point out signs of how people and wildlife manage to coexist in the bay.
It’s a nod to World Ocean Day’s mission—encouraging us all to think about sustainable ocean resource management, even if just for a morning.
Preparing for Your Sail
San Francisco Bay weather can shift fast, even in summer. Dress in layers so you can adjust if it gets chilly during your three-hour trip.
What to Bring
For the most comfortable experience, remember to pack:
The deck sometimes gets slippery, so wear rubber-soled shoes with good grip. And don’t forget—it’s usually 10-15 degrees cooler out on the water than on land, even if the sun’s out.
About Schooner Freda B
The Schooner Freda B is an 80-foot traditionally rigged tall ship. It offers a sailing experience you just don’t find every day.
This vessel gives you a stable spot to watch wildlife without stirring up the environment much. The classic design lets passengers feel like they’ve stepped back in time, but there are still enough modern comforts to keep things easy.
This World Ocean Day event mixes fun with a bit of environmental awareness. It’s great for folks who care about marine conservation, sailing fans, and families looking for something educational outside.
The sail gives you a view of San Francisco Bay that you just can’t get from land. You’ll start to notice how the city and its wild surroundings are all tangled up together—it’s more complicated than it looks at first glance.
