San Rafael Bulldogs Take on Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons in Softball Showdown

Today’s softball showdown between the red-hot San Rafael Bulldogs and the slumping Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons might just be the most intriguing matchup in Marin County high school sports this week.

Both teams bring impressive pitching talent, but the Bulldogs roll into San Anselmo on a six-game winning streak, while the Peregrine Falcons are still searching for that spark they had earlier in the season.

Bulldogs Bringing Momentum to San Anselmo

The San Rafael Bulldogs have turned heads lately, racking up a 13-10 record that honestly doesn’t show how dominant they’ve been these past few weeks.

They’ve handled southern Marin opponents with ease and just crushed Kentfield’s Marin Catholic 12-3 last week.

Drummer’s Dominant Pitching

Much of San Rafael’s surge comes down to the electric pitching of Thomara Drummer.

She’s amazed fans all over Marin, striking out at least seven batters in 17 straight games, and tossed 11 Ks against Marin Catholic while giving up only three runs.

“Drummer’s development this season has been extraordinary,” said a Larkspur-based scout who catches games all over the county. “Her command and velocity would make her competitive even at the collegiate level.”

Offensive Firepower

The Bulldogs’ offense has been rolling, too, putting up an average of 8.3 runs during their six-game home streak.

Some recent standouts:

  • Sophia Everett: Hit a home run and drove in four runs against Marin Catholic
  • Gabby Rodriguez: Went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs in their last game
  • This lineup has powered San Rafael to seven wins by six runs or more, making them one of the MCAL’s most dangerous squads as they head across central Marin for today’s game.

Peregrine Falcons Seeking to Soar Again

Archie Williams, who represent San Anselmo and Fairfax, come into today with a strong 17-7 record, but they’ve hit a rough patch lately.

The Falcons have lost three of their last four, including a rough 12-1 loss to Marin Catholic—the same team San Rafael just handled.

Still, playing at home under the shadow of Mount Tamalpais gives the Falcons a bit of an edge.

Their fans, who come from all over Ross Valley, always bring the energy and make it a tough place for visiting teams.

    Pitching Showdown Expected

Today’s contest at Archie Williams High School looks like a battle of strikeout artists. San Rafael averages a striking 11.8 strikeouts per game.

The Peregrine Falcons keep things close with 7.0 strikeouts each contest. Batters from Corte Madera and Greenbrae who’ve faced these pitchers say that patience at the plate matters if anyone wants to get on base.

The Bulldogs want to push their winning streak to seven. They’ll have to keep their bats hot while making the tough trip through Ross Valley.

The Peregrine Falcons, playing at home in the western part of Marin County, hope the familiar field helps them snap out of their recent slump. Maybe a little home-crowd energy will do the trick.

First pitch is at 4:30 p.m. today in San Anselmo. The forecast calls for pleasant spring weather—honestly, perfect for what should be a lively display of Marin County high school softball.
