Event Details

Circle Friday, July 4, 2025, on your calendar. Novato’s main street gets decked out for a big celebration of American independence.

The parade goes from 10:00am to about noon. Pre-parade entertainment starts at 9:00am, if you like getting there early.

Location and Viewing Tips

The parade follows Grant Avenue, starting at Reichert Avenue and ending at 7th Street. You can watch from the sidewalks anywhere along the route.

People show up early—prime spots go fast. Bring chairs if you want, but keep them on the sidewalks, not in the street.

  • No pets allowed, unless they’re official support animals.
  • Parking gets crowded, so you’ll probably want to leave your car a few blocks away and walk in.
  • Pre-Parade Activities

The fun actually kicks off before the parade. Early birds get to enjoy extra entertainment and some local food traditions.

    Buckaroo Breakfast

Start the day with pancakes at the Buckaroo Breakfast, run by the Presbyterian Church of Novato. They’ll be serving from 7:00am to 10:00am in the Redwood Credit Union lot at 1010 Grant Avenue.

This breakfast supports Homeward Bound, a local nonprofit. They’ll have pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, orange juice, and milk.

  • Adults and kids over 12: $10.00
  • Children 5-12: $5.00
  • Under 5: Free
  • Pre-Parade Entertainment

From 9:00am until the parade kicks off at 10:00am, you’ll find free entertainment along the route. These warm-up acts keep things lively and help pass the time for kids (and grownups, honestly).

Local musicians, dance groups, and interactive performers usually show up to get everyone in the mood.

    Planning Your Visit

The Novato Fourth of July Parade draws folks from all over Marin County—and honestly, even farther. If you’re thinking about coming, here are a few tips that might make your day smoother:

  • Try to get there by 8:30am. That’s your best bet for snagging parking and a good spot to watch.
  • Don’t forget sunscreen, water, and maybe even an umbrella if you’re not a fan of the midday sun.
  • Comfortable shoes are a must. If you’re feeling festive, go ahead and rock those red, white, and blue colors.
  • Kids love waving little American flags, so toss a few in your bag if you have them.
  • Heads up—downtown streets close at 8:00am and won’t open until after the parade wraps up.
  • This celebration really feels like small-town America at its best. There’s something refreshing about a parade that’s all about local spirit, not just big flashy floats or ads. In a place like the Bay Area, that’s kind of rare, isn’t it?
