Championship Coach Takes Over San Marin Girls Soccer Program

In a major development for Mustangs athletics, Isaiah Schwerin has been appointed as the new girls soccer head coach at San Marin High School. Schwerin brings an impressive pedigree to Novato, having recently guided Marin Catholic to a NorCal Division IV championship in 2024.

Building on Strong Foundation

The San Marin program appears poised for success under Schwerin’s leadership, with several key players returning to the pitch. The Mustangs will benefit from the talents of standouts Tatum D’Angelica, Gianna Grasso, and Natalie Banton.

This provides a solid foundation for the new coach to build upon as he implements his championship-winning philosophy in Novato.

Local Athlete Explores New Opportunities

Former Marin Catholic star Charles Williams has entered the NCAA transfer portal following his freshman season at University of Wyoming. The Kentfield native has reportedly drawn interest from Delaware State as he looks for a new collegiate home to continue his athletic career.

Golf Competition Heats Up Across Marin

The links have been active with impressive performances from young golfers representing schools throughout the county. At the scenic Marin Country Club, Branson School’s Jack Hilleboe shot a remarkable 33 to lead his team to victory over Novato High.

San Marin Claims Victory on the Greens

Meanwhile, San Marin’s golf program continued its strong season with a win against San Rafael, powered by Noah Duncan’s solid round of 38. The competition showcased the depth of golfing talent developing throughout Mill Valley, San Rafael, Novato, and other Marin communities.

Lacrosse Teams Display Dominance

Mill Valley’s Tam High lacrosse program has secured a top-two finish in the MCAL following an overwhelming 20-1 victory against Terra Linda. The Red-tailed Hawks’ offensive juggernaut was led by Seamus Nesbit, who contributed four goals and five assists in a standout performance.

Novato High demonstrated its competitive spirit with a hard-fought 9-7 victory over University. Tyler Smith was instrumental in the Hornets’ success, netting three goals and adding an assist to help secure the win for the Novato squad.

Tennis Action Across County Courts

Larkspur’s Redwood High tennis program showcased its depth by sweeping singles play in a convincing 6-1 victory over Marin Catholic. The matches, held at Bay Club Ross Valley, demonstrated the Giants’ strength on the court.

At the collegiate level, San Rafael’s Dominican University tennis team, seeded fourth in the tournament, fell 4-1 to fifth-seeded Biola during the PacWest Championships in Arizona. Despite the Penguins’ impressive sweep in doubles play, they couldn’t maintain the momentum in singles competition.

College of Marin Baseball Battles in Conference Play

The Kentfield-based College of Marin baseball team showed resilience but ultimately fell 10-5 to Solano in an important Bay Valley Conference matchup. The Mariners (25-10-1, 15-2 BVC) will look to rebound as they travel to Fairfield to complete their three-game series against the Falcons (15-20, 7-10).
